ABOUT SOY WAX
CLEANER BURNING
Soy wax burns cleaner than paraffin wax and there is no petrol-carbon soot which can leave black marks on nearby surfaces, a problem that is immediately obvious with normal candles when you hold something close to the flame (such as heating a plate). However, even from distance the sooty resin from paraffin candles will build up over time and leave dark blotches on nearby walls and the ceiling above
PURER BURNING
Being non-toxic, the smoke from soy wax contains no carcinogens that are usually present in normal candle smoke. While candle smoke is not excessively dangerous in the way that the carcinogens in cigarette smoke are, it is still a health factor worth noting, especially for those already suffering breathing problems such as asthma.
LONGER BURNING
Because soy wax candles burn cooler, they also burn slower and thus produce much longer lasting candles, meaning you get a lot more for your money when you buy soy wax candles.
RENEWABLE
RESOURCES
Soy wax comes from soybeans which are a renewable source, unlike paraffin which includes non-renewable petroleum. In this modern age we really need to do all we can to help the environment and switching from paraffin candles to soy candles is another small step we can all take.
NATURALLY
BIODEGRADABLE
Because soy wax is made from the hydrogenated oil of the soybean vegetable, it is completely and naturally biodegradable, which means it is capable of decomposing via bacteria or other living organisms, thus avoiding unnecessary pollution – making them very eco-friendly.
SUITABLE FOR
VEGANS &
VEGETARIANS
Soy candles are also ideal for vegans and vegetarians because they are made from the oil of the soybean. This doesn’t mean you can eat them, of course, but they are made with completely natural materials which will ease the consciences of the earthly minded.
SOY WAX CANDLE
QUIRKS
Frosting is a perfectly natural effect of using soy wax and is unique to vegetable waxes, especially soy. It is the natural wax re-crystallizing. All soy waxes frost to some degree and is a sign that you are using 100% natural soy wax. Using colours when making melts & candles can sometimes highlight frosting.
One Important Fact to know is that Frosting does not impair the quality of the wax melt or candle, again it’s just a natural quirk of Soy Wax.
Candle Terminology - Cold throw is the release of fragrance when the melt or candle is at room temperature, unlit, and therefore the wax is solid.
Candle Terminology - Hot throw in candles is when the wick of the candle has been lit, or for Wax Melts once the melt has heat applied to it.
